Joint Advice
An impartial 1-hour session where both parents receive the same clear legal guidance on child arrangements — so you can make informed, child-focused decisions together.
What is Joint Advice?
Joint Advice is a private, one-hour session for separated parents who want to understand the legal framework around arrangements for their children. Both parents attend together and receive the same impartial information from an experienced family law specialist.
It's designed as an early-intervention step — helping parents talk through arrangements calmly, with a shared understanding of what the law expects and what's reasonable, before positions become entrenched.
Who is this service for?
- Parents who have separated (or are separating) and need to sort out arrangements for their children.
- Parents who want to keep decisions out of court where possible.
- Parents who broadly want to co-operate but need clarity on their legal position.
- Parents preparing to enter mediation who want to understand the law first.
This service focuses purely on children matters — living arrangements, contact, holidays, schooling, parental responsibility and related issues. It does not cover divorce or financial separation.

- Options for agreeing arrangements without court (including MIAM and mediation).

- Practical, child-focused options both parents can consider.
Benefits of attending together
What Joint Advice is not
- It is not mediation. We provide legal information; a mediator facilitates negotiation.
- It is not legal representation. The specialist does not act for either parent.
- It is not therapy or counselling. The focus is legal and practical.
- It is not divorce or financial advice. Only child arrangements are covered.
