Family court can feel overwhelming. Access 2 Children prepares fathers for every stage of proceedings, from the first application to the final hearing, with a dedicated Family Law Partner guiding your case.
The family court process
Each stage of family court proceedings has its own requirements and deadlines.
Preparing and issuing your C100 application with the right information.
Understanding safeguarding, CAFCASS and what the court will ask.
Witness statements, position statements and responding to Section 7 reports.
Presenting your case clearly and confidently.
Inside the courtroom
Knowing what each hearing is for helps you prepare and stay calm on the day.
The First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointment. The court reviews safeguarding, identifies the issues and checks whether agreement is possible.
Held once reports and statements are available. The court narrows the issues and tries again to reach agreement before a final hearing.
Where agreement is not reached, the court hears evidence from both parents and any witnesses, then makes a decision based on your child's welfare.
CAFCASS
CAFCASS advises the court on what is best for your child. How you engage with them can influence the outcome.
Before the first hearing, CAFCASS carries out police and local authority checks and speaks to both parents by phone.
The court may ask CAFCASS or social services to prepare a report on your child's welfare and make recommendations.
Depending on age and understanding, CAFCASS may speak with your child to understand their wishes and feelings.
